CanCham Shanghai Strengthens Efforts to Attract Foreign Investment
Supporting Canadian Businesses
With over 100 corporate members, CanCham Shanghai continues to grow. The Chamber represents a diverse range of industries, including trade, consulting, banking, and mining, not only from Canada but also local Shanghai and international companies.
Matt believes business success in Shanghai varies by sector. Canadian companies in food, energy, and consumer goods have seen growth, while those in the catering industry face challenges. CanCham organizes events like Canada Day and the Maple Leaf Ball, alongside smaller seminars and networking activities, to meet members' needs and boost their business ties.
Bridge for Investment
Shanghai's proactive approach to attracting foreign investment aligns with CanCham's goals. Matt is eager to support investment promotion delegations traveling between China and Canada. The Chamber works closely with the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board and assists Canadian SMEs seeking opportunities in Shanghai. Matt emphasizes CanCham's role in connecting Canadian businesses with local partners and facilitating communication with economic and trade departments.
A Blend of Cultures
Having lived in Shanghai for over a decade, Matt appreciates the city's blend of local and international cultures. He enjoys cycling along the Huangpu River and playing ice hockey in a diverse community, and he feels that Shanghai offers endless opportunities. Matt is proud to call the city his home, both professionally and personally.
