CNI Cross-market Index Revises Compilation Plan to Include SSE STAR Market into the Constituent Selection Pool
The revision is applicable to the CNI cross-market indexes that include stocks traded in Shenzhen and Shanghai markets, and will be implemented in two steps. Step 1, the product underlying indexes will be revised during the regular sample stock adjustment in June 2022. Step 2, the non-product underlying indexes will be revised during the regular sample stock adjustment in December 2022.
As one of the important index compilers in China, SSIC, with CNI series indexes, is committed to building a characteristic cross-market index system to facilitate the establishment of a more diversified index product structure in China. By the end of March 2022, there have been 67 index funds developed under the CNI SSE and SZSE cross-market indexes, with the product volume totaling CNY 69.6 billion and the products highly recognized by the market.
The SSE STAR market has been stably running for over two years. It has seen a continuous rise in the number and market cap scale of listed companies and there have sprung up a fleet of representative enterprises in science and technology innovation. The STAR market has become an important part of the Chinese capital market. Adding STAR market securities into the index constituent selection pool will make the CNI indexes become more representative and the compilation more scientific. Besides, such inclusion will also help enrich the STAR market index investment instruments to guide more medium- and long-term funds to flow into the quality companies listed on the STAR market.
