Fostering growth in alternative funds
The rapid emergence of alternative strategies has given rise to a new class of funds: Alternative Investment Funds, or AIFs. AIFs refer to all investment funds that are not covered by the EU Directive on UCITS and instead fall under the Alternative Investment Fund Manager Directive (AIFMD). This includes hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, venture capital, private equity funds and real estate funds. As one of the leading exchanges for funds, LuxSE provides asset managers a stable regulatory environment and the opportunity to broaden their service offering.
Reserved alternative investment funds (RAIF)
Reserved Alternative Investment Funds, or RAIFs, are a new type of vehicle we list that combines the characteristics and structures of specialised investment funds (SIFs) and investment companies in risk capital (SICARs) qualifying as AIFs. Unlike AIFs, they are not subject to approval from Luxembourg’s regulator, the CSSF, before they are launched. These new fund structures will enable asset managers to reduce the time it takes to bring their funds to market.
A success story from one of our partners
"We are proud to be the first management company to list a RAIF on LuxSE. We are an SME acting on a very competitive market composed of many major industry players, still not only were we the first to list such product in Luxembourg, but we have also set the market standard and procedures required for the listing of a completely new type of an Investment Fund"

Compilations of Luxembourg Investment Fund Laws & Regulations
The Luxembourg Stock Exchange in cooperation with the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) proposes a 2017 edition of the AIF compilation of texts related to investment fund laws and regulations in Luxembourg.
AIF Laws & Regulations
This compilation is dedicated to alternative investment funds (AIFs) established under Luxembourg law and to other investment vehicles which are not UCITS and which may not qualify as AIFs. It contains the law of 23 July 2016 on reserved alternative investment funds, the amended Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, the amended Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment, the amended Law of 13 February 2007 on specialised investment funds, the amended Law of 15 June 2004 on the investment company in risk capital as well as the main regulatory texts.
The compilation is available in French, German and English.
The AIF compilation of texts is the fruit of an active cooperation between two local law firms, Arendt & Medernach and Elvinger Hoss Prussen, who have compiled the legal and regulatory texts and prepared the English and German translations.
